Cove 24.10 Standby image rollback & Restore to alternate user
N-able announced the release Cove Data Protection version 24.10, which includes several new features and enhancements. These include Standby Image Rollback, Microsoft 365 Restore to Alternate User, Manager Updates, and Retention Policy Improvements.
Standby Image Rollback
This new feature allows users to quickly revert a corrupted or compromised Standby Image to a previous, good backup state. This is useful for cyber recovery scenarios. Standby Image Rollback rebuilds the image from a chosen point in time, eliminating the need for storing older backups and reducing storage requirements
Microsoft 365 Restore to Alternate User
You can now restore Microsoft 365 data to a different licensed user within the same domain. This simplifies tasks like employee offboarding, role changes, account recovery, and legal investigations.
Cove Backup Manager Updates
-
MacOS 15 Sequoia support: Backups and statistics are now available for MacOS 15 devices.
-
Windows 10 multi-session reporting: Multi-session instances are now reported as workstations for clearer billing and cost management.
-
Backup speed optimization: Improved change tracking significantly increases backup speed for large files.
-
Bandwidth throttling fix: Resolved an issue impacting offline devices' bandwidth throttling settings.
-
Improved synchronization status: Status updates for Local Speedvault and Storage Nodes are now displayed after each synchronization.
-
Linux Debian 8 installation fix: Installation issues for Backup Manager on Debian 8 with systemd are resolved.
Retention Policy Improvements
Fixed an issue where the default 30-day retention policy wasn't applied during unattended device installations. The "learn more" link in the Retention policies banner now points to the correct documentation.
Additional Improvements
Amongst others N-able also improved delta restore mechanism for Standby Image to Azure, reducing technician workload. Updated boot image for Bare Metal Restore (BMR) using Windows 11 PE to prevent potential BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) issues. N-able fixed issue where the OS selection screenshot was mistakenly classified as a failed boot and enhanced logic for delta restores after VM boot for faster and more reliable restore speeds.
